I realized I was completely and utterly in love with ‘the one,’ and so I committed all the limbs of my octopus heart to loving just this one woman as much as I could. But of course the old habits of those limbs and the pride of that heart have been slow and hard in their death.

The above quote is where the title Octopus Heart comes from – but here are some other titles I might have used instead – but didn’t. For fun (yes, this is my idea of fun) I am going to keep record of other possible titles as they come to me.
The Fiery She and Electric Me: A Tale of Love and Uxory – this is my new all time favorite alternate title for the blog, ‘Fire‘ and ‘Electric‘ are important.
Vanilla Fire: My wife asked, “Exactly what is so odd about loving your wife?” My answer: In a word: passion. To me passion just seems out of place in this postmodern age; but more so I think it’s the sheer similarity of potentially functional love symbols (say obedience or female led) for my interior experience of passion tend towards the distinctly non-vanilla.
All My Uxory: All my uxory might simply be doing what I can to feed her fire and so feed our fire, for by moving in her happiness-desire direction we move in our happiness-desire direction.
Love’s Calculus: …my predilection for increasingly differentiated symbols, even when the differentiation is unnecessary to adequately and accurate portray my experience … illustrates how paying attention only to differentiating phenomena at the expense of experience makes our lives feel meaningless…
Uxory & Philosophy: I realize now that in addition to discussing my relationship with my wife and its experiential meaning for me, I also spend a great amount of time here developing (and defending) coherent philosophic thought to frame this meaningful subjective experience as valid and relevant in an ultimately unknowable objective reality and (to a lesser extent) in a postmodern culture and society.
